When Life Gets Busy: Lessons in Balance, Business, and Momentum

Finding balance in paradise — Hawaii 2025

It’s been a minute since my last blog post. Life has been busy, and Arc Space Innovation has been even busier. The kind of busy that I’m incredibly proud of.

In under a year, our team has grown with new hires, earned certifications that truly move the needle for a small business, and in less than a month, responded to five proposals. Whew. That’s a lot for any team, let alone one in its early stages, and I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve accomplished.

But here’s the thing, success at work doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Alongside these professional milestones, life has been full too. We celebrated my husband’s birthday, our 10-year wedding anniversary, our daughter’s 8th birthday, my own 36th birthday, a family trip to Hawaii (more on that soon 🌺), and getting the kids back to school. Sometimes it feels like we’re living at full throttle on every front, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Back on the work front, and I’ll be honest: when I hear a small company say their entire team is consumed with proposals, I have a knee-jerk reaction. Proposals don’t equal success. Products do. Without something real to offer, winning significant proposals becomes nearly impossible. And if you’re taking the even harder route, growing without early venture capital, then the bar is even higher. Honestly, I think companies who achieve growth without VC funding deserve their own SBA category. That’s where the true grit, innovation, and strategic thinking lives. (More thoughts on that in another post…)

For now, I just want to say: it feels good to be back here, writing with more consistency again. The truth is, life and business will always have seasons of push and pull. When you’re highly driven and ambitious, sometimes you take on too much — and that’s okay. The key is knowing when to prioritize, when to drop something, and when to throttle back so you can throttle up again.

And while Arc Space Innovation has been moving at full throttle, I’ve also been thinking about ways to give back. I just applied to become a mentor, where I’ll offer expertise in engineering, government, aerospace, and startup strategy. I’ll find out next week if I made the cut — and if I do, I hope you’ll consider signing up to grow your career on the trajectory you’ve always imagined.

So if I ever get quiet on the blog front, know this: it’s probably because Arc Space Innovation is on a strong trajectory, one that sometimes requires a 24/7 focus. And that’s the kind of busy I’m always ready for.
